USAO Information Technology Specialist Indicted for Impersonating a Government Official, False Documents, and Aggravated Identify Theft

On January 28, 2025, an Information Technology Specialist assigned to the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) in Houston, Texas, was indicted on two counts of impersonating a government official, two counts of false documents, and two counts of aggravated identity theft. Trevor Neill was indicted in the Southern District of Texas. According to the Indictment, Neill maintained an outside business and falsely pretended to be an Assistant United States Attorney in a letter mailed in an official envelope to a competitor threatening legal action. Neill also willfully and knowingly made false writings and documents by providing purported orders falsely stating that he had been ordered to report for military reserve duty, and knowingly used the identification of another person for these false documents. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Houston Office with assistance from the OIG’s Dallas Office.
