Non-DOJ Individual Pleaded Guilty to Providing Contraband to an Inmate

On July 9, 2024, a non-DOJ Individual pleaded guilty to one count of providing contraband to an inmate. Yajaira Christina Contreras pleaded guilty in the District of Rhode Island. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from on or about January 30, 2021, through on or about February 15, 2021, Contreras conspired with others to provide and provided 201 suboxone strips containing buprenorphine to an inmate at the Donald W. Wyatt Detention Facility, a USMS contract facility that houses pre-sentenced inmates. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Boston Office, the FBI, the USMS, and the Wyatt Detention Center – Professional Standards Unit.
