Non-DOJ Individual Arrested for Conspiracy to Commit Access Device Fraud and Aggravated Identity Theft

On May 28, 2025, a non-DOJ individual was arrested on one count of Conspiracy to Commit Access Device Fraud and one count of Aggravated Identity Theft. Cristian Restrepo was previously charged by Information in the Southern District of Florida. According to the Information, from on or about December 2023, to on or about February 22, 2024, Restrepo knowingly, and with intent to defraud, trafficked in and used personal identification information, including Social Security Numbers, dates of birth, and driver license numbers issued to other persons (“unauthorized access devices”). Restrepo possessed 15 or more unauthorized access devices that were purchased from a co-conspirator via Telegram message and obtained from another co-conspirator who was a government employee. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Miami office.
