On June 14, 2024, a former FBI Special Agent previously assigned to the FBI New Orleans Field Office was found guilty of one count of sodomy and one count of sex abuse of a child less than 12 years of age, after a trial by jury. Christopher Bauer, who was terminated from the FBI in connection with an unrelated administrative investigation, was found guilty in the Circuit Court of Montgomery, Alabama. According to the evidence presented at trial, Bauer sexually abused his minor daughter over a period of years including during his tenure with the FBI. The investigation was conducted by the Montgomery Police Department, the Louisiana State Police, and the OIG’s Houston Office; forensic assistance was provided by the OIG’s Cyber Investigations Office.
