On August 12, 2024, a former contract nurse previously assigned to the Northeast Ohio Correctional Center (NEOCC), in Youngstown, Ohio, a USMS contracted facility that houses federal inmates, was arrested following an indictment charging her with one count of bribery of a public official, one count of conspiracy, and one count of introduction of contraband. Alexis Schneider was indicted in the Northern District of Ohio. According to the Indictment, from on or about June 29, 2021, through on or about September 14, 2021, Schneider conspired with others to provide tobacco and other contraband to prison inmates in exchange for electronic payments. The indictment includes a forfeiture provision which would require Schneider to forfeit $45,401.00 if convicted. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Detroit Office and the FBI; forensic assistance was provided by the OIG’s Cyber Investigation Office.
