On March 04, 2025, a former contract licensed practical nurse previously assigned to the Northeast Ohio Correctional Center (NEOCC), in Youngstown, Ohio, a USMS contract facility that houses federal inmates, was sentenced to two years of supervised probation, a $120 special assessment, and a $5,000 fine, following a guilty plea to one count of bribery of a public official, one count of conspiracy, and one count of introduction of contraband. Alexis Schneider was sentenced in the Northern District of Ohio. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from on or about June 29, 2021, through on or about September 14, 2021, Schneider knowingly and intentionally conspired with others to provide prohibited objects, including loose tobacco, to an inmate at NEOCC in exchange for United States currency. The sentencing also requires Schneider to forfeit $45,401.00, which is the sum equal to the amount of bribery payments Schneider received. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Detroit Office and the FBI; forensic assistance was provided by the OIG’s Cyber Office.
