Former Contract Deputy Sheriff Pleaded Guilty to Four Counts of Sexual Abuse of a Ward

On May 8, 2025, a former contract deputy sheriff previously assigned to the Mahoning County Jail, in Youngstown, Ohio, a USMS contract facility that houses federal detainees, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual abuse of a ward and two counts of sexual abuse. Damon Perry pleaded guilty in the Northern District of Ohio. According to the indictment, from on or about November 9, 2023, through November 30, 2023, Perry sexually abused a federal detainee housed at the Mahoning County Jail. The investigation was conducted by OIG’s Detroit Office with assistance from the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Department.
