Former BOP Correctional Officer Sentenced for a Sexual Act with an Inmate and Introduction of Contraband

On February 26, 2025, a former Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Milan (FCI Milan), was sentenced to 6 months incarceration for committing a sexual act with an inmate and introduction of contraband. Cara Wozniak, who resigned from her position with BOP following her OIG interview, was sentenced in the Eastern District of Michigan. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, Wozniak engaged in sexual acts with an inmate in her custody and provided prohibited objects to an inmate at FCI Milan in 2023. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Detroit Office; forensic assistance was provided by the OIG’s Cyber Investigations Office.
