On December 19, 2023, a former BOP Correctional Officer assigned to the Federal Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky (FMC Lexington), was sentenced to 18 months incarceration, 5 years supervised release, a $100 assessment, and a $5,000 Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act assessment for one count of sexual abuse of a ward. Dustin B. Sparks, who resigned from his position with the BOP, was sentenced in the Eastern District of Kentucky. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from on or about September 3, 2022, through on or about September 19, 2022, Sparks engaged in one or more sexual acts with an inmate at the FMC Lexington. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Lexington Locale and the FBI.
