On June 24, 2024, a former BOP Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Hazleton (FCI Hazelton) in West Virginia, was sentenced to 4 months of incarceration, 1 year of supervised release, and a $10 assessment fee, following a guilty plea to one count of providing a prohibited object in prison. Michael Webster Rakosi was sentenced in the Northern District of West Virginia. According to the plea agreement, Rakosi pleaded guilty to the Information, which stated that in or about June 2021, Rakosi knowingly and intentionally introduced tobacco into FCI Hazleton. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Washington Office.
