On November 30, 2023, a former BOP Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) in Forrest City, Arkansas was sentenced to 33 months of imprisonment and one year of supervised release for one count of bribery. Bryant Phillips was sentenced in the Eastern District of Arkansas. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from in or about January 2017 through February 2019, Phillips accepted more than $15,000 in monetary bribes from associates of inmates to introduce contraband, including tobacco, alcohol, and K2, into the FCC Forrest City. Three inmates and one other individual have previously been sentenced in this case. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s South Central Region Dallas Office, with analysis assistance provided by the South Central Region and forensic assistance provided by the OIG’s Cyber Investigations Office.
