Former BOP Correctional Officer Pleaded Guilty to Deprivation of Rights Under Color of Law

On February 6, 2025, a former BOP Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution in Terminal Island, California, pleaded guilty to one count of deprivation of rights under color of law. Martin Adams was charged in the Central District of California. According to the factual basis in support of the guilty plea, from in or about April 2019 to in or about December 2019, Adams knowingly engaged in sexual harassment, sexual contact, and sexual acts with an inmate. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG's Los Angeles Office with investigative assistance provided by the OIG’s Trenton Office; forensic assistance was provided by the OIG's Cyber Investigations Office.
