Former BOP Correctional Officer Indicted for Assault by Striking and Obstruction of Justice by Falsification of Records

On May 16, 2025, a former BOP Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution in Thomson, Illinois, was arrested following an Indictment charging him with one count of assault by striking and one count of obstruction of justice by falsification of records. Gregory Inman was charged in the Northern District of Illinois. According to the Indictment, on or about March 9, 2021, Inman assaulted an inmate by striking, beating, and wounding him, and knowingly falsified BOP records with the intent to obstruct and influence the investigation. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Chicago Office and the FBI.
