On November 22, 2024, a former BOP Correctional Officer assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Ashland (FCI Ashland) in Kentucky, pleaded guilty to one count of introduction of contraband. Sean Lawless pleaded guilty in the Eastern District of Kentucky. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from in or about November 2021 through in or about February 2022, Lawless introduced prohibited items, including alcohol, cigarettes, chewing tobacco, and vaping pens, to inmates at FCI Ashland. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Lexington Locale and the FBI.
