Former BOP and USMS Contract Correctional Officer Sentenced for Bribery of a Public Official and Introduction of Contraband

On November 8, 2023, a former BOP and USMS Contract Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Elkton (FCI Elkton), in Ohio, and the Northeast Ohio Correctional Center (NEOCC) in Youngstown, Ohio was sentenced to three years of probation, with the first five months under home detention with location monitoring, for one count of bribery of a public official and five counts of providing contraband to an inmate. Nasher Algahim was sentenced in the Northern District of Ohio. According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from on or about March 6, 2017, through on or about January 16, 2021, Algahim accepted monetary bribes in exchange for introducing contraband, namely marijuana, alcohol, tobacco, and an electronic recording device, into FCI Elkton and the NEOCC. The investigation was conducted by the OIG’s Chicago Office, the OIG’s Cyber Investigations Office, and the FBI.
