On January 28, 2025, a former BOP Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Williamsburg (FCI Williamsburg), in South Carolina, was convicted by a federal jury in the District of South Carolina of bribery, money laundering, distribution of methamphetamine, distribution of suboxone, and two counts of filing a false tax return. According to the Indictment, from in or about September 2021 through in or about June 2022, Angela Crosland sought bribery payments from inmates to smuggle contraband into FCI Williamsburg, to include methamphetamine and suboxone, and distributed those controlled substances. Crosland engaged in money laundering when she received bribery payments designed to conceal or disguise the source of those payments, and tax fraud when she failed to claim the bribery income on her tax returns. Also included in the indictment is a forfeiture order requiring Crosland to forfeit $56,791, the total sum of bribery payments Crosland received. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Atlanta Office.
