On May 13, 2025, LaTara Brown, a DOJ contractor with the Office of Justice Programs (OJP), pleaded guilty in the District of Columbia to one count of conspiracy to introduce contraband in a prison. According to the statement of offense accompanying the plea agreement, Brown conspired with other individuals to deliver packages containing contraband to District of Columbia Central Detention Facility (CDF) inmates between June 30, 2024, and July 25, 2024. The packages were subsequently seized by CDF staff and contained a knife, cell phones, fentanyl pills, and strips containing Buprenorphrine, a Schedule III controlled substance. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Washington Office and the FBI Washington Field Office.
