BOP Correctional Officer Pleaded Guilty to Wire Fraud

On December 1, 2023, a BOP Correctional Officer previously assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Coleman (FCI Coleman), in Wildwood, Florida, pleaded guilty to fourteen counts of wire fraud.  Katrina McCoy pleaded guilty in the Middle District of Florida.  According to the factual statement in support of the guilty plea, from on or about March 27, 2019, through on or about February 23, 2021, McCoy filed five false disability insurance claims and received 14 electronic transfers to her bank accounts, totaling $39,570.  McCoy fraudulently used her primary care physician and BOP supervisor’s identities to commit the fraud that affected interstate commerce.  The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Chattanooga Locale.
