BOP Correctional Officer Indicted for Bribery, Distribution of Methamphetamine, Distribution of Suboxone, Money Laundering, and Filing a False Tax Return

On December 10, 2024, a BOP Correctional Officer assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution in Williamsburg, South Carolina (FCI Williamsburg), was indicted on a superseding indictment for one count of Bribery, one count of Distribution of Methamphetamine, one count of Distribution of Suboxone, one count of Money Laundering, and two counts of filing a false tax return. Angela Crosland was originally indicted in the District of South Carolina on November 14, 2023. According to the Superseding Indictment, from in or about September 2021, through in or about June 2022, Crosland accepted bribery payments from inmates at FCI Williamsburg in exchange for smuggling contraband, to include methamphetamine and suboxone, into FCI Williamsburg. Crosland further allegedly engaged in money laundering when she received bribery payments which were designed to conceal or disguise the source of those payments. The superseding indictment added two counts of filing a false tax return for her alleged failure to report bribery payments as income. Also included in the indictment is a forfeiture order which would require Crosland to forfeit upon conviction $56,791, which is the total sum of bribery payments Crosland allegedly received. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Southeast Region and the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation.
