On November 14, 2023, a BOP Correctional Officer assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Williamsburg (FCI Williamsburg) in South Carolina, was charged by federal indictment with one count each of Bribery, Distribution of Methamphetamine, Distribution of Suboxone, and Money Laundering. Angela Crosland was indicted in the District of South Carolina. According to the indictment, from in or about September 2021 through in or about June 2022, Crosland accepted money in exchange for smuggling contraband, to include methamphetamine and suboxone, into FCI Williamsburg for inmates. During the same period, Crosland allegedly conducted financial transactions affecting interstate commerce, which transactions involved the proceeds of bribery payments, knowing the transactions were designed, in whole or in part, to conceal or disguise the source of those payments. The indictment also contains a forfeiture provision, which would require Crosland, if convicted, to forfeit $56,791, which is the total sum of bribery payments Crosland allegedly received. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Atlanta Office.
