On February 27, 2025, a BOP Correctional Officer assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Coleman Medium (FCI Coleman Medium), in Florida, was arrested following a Grand Jury Indictment in the Middle District of Florida. Michael Brooks was charged with introduction of contraband and acceptance of a bribe by a public official. According to the Indictment, Brooks knowingly agreed to receive and accept money in return for being influenced to introduce contraband in the form of tobacco to an inmate at the prison. On or about June 12, 2024, Brooks provided contraband in the form of tobacco to an inmate at the prison. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Ocala Locale.
