BOP Correctional Officer Charged with Aggravated Sexual Battery

On November 20, 2024, a BOP Correctional Officer assigned to the Federal Correctional Institution Manchester in Kentucky, was indicted for one count of aggravated sexual battery and one count of sexual battery. Robert Cardenas, who was previously arrested on September 23, 2023, was charged in Glynn County, Georgia. According to the arrest warrant, on or about March 23, 2023, Cardenas intentionally penetrated the sexual organ of the victim and made physical contact with the victim’s intimate body part without the victim’s consent. The investigation is being conducted by the OIG’s Atlanta Office and the Glynn County (GA) Police Department with assistance from the OIG’s Seattle Locale and Dallas Office.
